A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a black tower with three merlons issuing from within a scarlet spade iron and all surmounted by a white chevron bearing a scarlet fleur-de-lis.
Scarlet and white are the colors used for Engineers. The heraldic tower together with the spade iron symbolizes military engineering and construction, the basic mission of the organization. The fleur-de-lis alludes to the units activation and service in France during World War II.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 16 December 1970.
